| So, it's been a long time since I have written a blog. I am finding that honesty can be both a good thing and a bad thing; it depends on who you open your life to and what part of it you are opening up. It is also not good to say that you are horrible at something because you are limiting yourself. It says in Philippians 4: 13, "I can do everything through him who gives my strength." So, definitely don't limit yourself. I woke up this morning and found an interesting website that has an on-line journal about a church's missions team to Thailand. It so happens that their church served with Pastor Luka, the same Pastor that my church, H.O.P.E. Church, is working with even now. The link is here. I had no idea that Pastor Luka was working with other churches besides mine. Shows how little I really do know! I have been studying the Reading section of the GRE for a few weeks now. I found this interesting quote about the role of societal cohesion on emotional well-being, "adherence to a common set of assumptions about the world was a necessary prerequisite for maintaining group integrity and avoiding social decay," (GRE Premier Program 2009 Edition p. 81). I am finding that people skills is a lot more necessary than reading and math skills. | | |
| I have never received an A in Physics as an undergraduate and I am a senior Physics major with 6 Physics classes to go in order to earn a degree. My Quantum Mechanics professor told me that in order to do well, I must study everything and do every problem in the book. He also recommended the class to read more than the required text book by going to the library. In short, Physics is hard!
They say that you need to study 3 hours for 1 credit hour. I'm planning to study 6 hours a day. That will be either 3 subjects for 2 hours a day or 2 subjects for 3 hours a day. It doesn't seem likely that I'll be able to do every problem of my required textbooks but I will solve the ones that strike me as the most similar to what the professor is emphasizing. Hopefully this will work; I will cross my fingers.
I also think that it is a good idea to ask God to come into your studies. Pastor Kyu said that you need to be wise when asking God for help on a test. You can ask God to help you remember what you need to know. I've done this in two classes and I feel as though God helped me. For my ASTR300 (Stars and Stellar Systems) class, I prayed and derived the Schwarzschild radius Equation that I didn't write on my index card of notes for the test. I just used the constants given at the beginning of the test. For my PHYS401 (Introduction to Quantum Mechanics I) class, I asked help on the first problem which had to do with a three state system. I couldn't know where to start but I asked for help to remember how to do the problems and I remembered some tricks with bras and kets that I did on a problem previously.
Man, Physics takes up a lot of your time. It is so hard to see how one can do every problem in the book unless he/she is a very quick problem solver. Not to mention, doing problems in other books too. I bet that only those that really love the subject end up doing just that.

| Without friends and family, a man who is stuck is out of luck. A person can think that he is right but be dead wrong and will live that way until someone corrects him. A person can listen as intently as he can and still miss a point that someone else gets. A group that works together can get things done faster and can cover a lot of ground. A man who tries to do everything by himself will usually do things the hard way. Self Reliance is overrated.
